Niagara Falls consists of three large streams: Horseshoe Falls (“Horseshoe”), the American Waterfall and the Bridleway (“Fata”). It is very popular among tourists (mainly because of the developed infrastructure). This is not the highest waterfall, about 53 meters, but one of the most powerful in the whole world — the volume of falling water reaches 5,700 m³/s.

Vadhu Island, Maldives

You can ask what is interesting in bioluminescent phytoplankton? However, it is worth looking at. A unique species of plankton that glows in the darkness can be seen only on the island of Vadhu. Waves, running on the shore, carry it with them, and the water begins to shimmer with hundreds of thousands sparkling lights.

Lake Retba is located in the north-eastern part of Dakar and is known for its unusual color of water. The lake owes its color to algae, because of which the water acquires such a rich color — from gently pink to scarlet. Also the water in the lake contains a lot of salt, so you can always stay afloat, as well as in the Dead Sea.

Blue Lagoon, Iceland

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa resort just 40 km from Reykjavik. This place did not appear by itself, it is considered to be man-made: the water from the power plants that supply the capital with the energy, accumulate on the lava plateau. As a result, mineral salts, silica and blue-green algae appeared in the water, which gave it medicinal properties.

Poseidon Undersea Resort, Fiji

The hotel is located directly under the sea, at a depth of about 13 meters, in the heart of the lagoon. Each room is a separate capsule with an open view of the underwater world. The hotel is expensive, but the guests are served here at the highest level: there is a bar, a restaurant, a gym and even a church for those who want to play an unusual wedding under the water.

Well of Thor, Oregon

The well of the Torah — part of Cape Perpetua — is a stone funnel that extends several meters inland. What is at the bottom of the Well, is still unknown, scuba divers do not venture to go down there because of a strong current. To visit the funnel is preferably one hour before the tide: the water begins to flood quickly the Well of the Thor, and then effectively shoots up a 6-meter fountain of spray.

Paradise gates, China

Another name of this place is “Celestial Gate”. This is the highest cave, it was formed in 263, when suddenly a large piece of the mountain just fell off, creating a huge cavity. At its foot, there are 999 steps: according to the legend, after passing through them, one can achieve enlightenment and approach God. Not everyone has enough power to do this, and Chinese do not like to disappoint tourists, so they made the world’s longest cable car and the highest open lift. Over the cave, you can almost always see a cloud of fog, which gives this place even more mystery.

Angel Falls, Venezuela

Angel Falls, the height of which is more than 1,000 meters, consists of two cascades and three levels. This is the highest waterfall in the world. It reaches the point of 807 meters. Before reaching the ground, water is sprayed and turns into a fog that can be felt for a few kilometers. By the way, the name of the waterfall has nothing to do with angels, it is named after the American pilot James Einjel.

Well of Jacob, Texas

The well of Jacob is a natural well with underwater caves, which attract divers from all over the world. Nothing can stop scuba divers even the fact that this is not the safest place to dive. The tourists are attracted by pure artesian waters and the legends with a lot of miseries.
