5 Dating Tips for the 1st date

The first date can be very nerve-wracking for many different people. It’s scary and challenging to try something new. Here are five tips to get you through the first date.

Tip

TIP #5:  Finding the perfect place to go on your first date

Finding where you go on a date can be very difficult. Take into consideration the following factors before deciding on a date location:

  • Your interests and what you like
  • Your date’s interests and what they like
  • The spending limit of you both – how much can you both afford?
  • What you like to do – this goes hand in hand with your interests
  • What day and what time of day the event is (dates on Friday night will be different from dates on Saturday morning, for example)

Many dates can take place at restaurants, coffee shops, and on the beach. Go for something laid back and simple, where you can get to know your potential partner a little better.   Make sure you choose something that’s central to both of you and that reflects both of your interests. This will give you both something to talk about and make you both feel more at ease. 5 Dating Tips for the 1st date

Tip #4: Be polite to everyone (not just your date)

Have you ever been on a date before and not asked someone to date you again because they were rude to the wait staff, bar staff, or someone else? Remember, politeness counts.  While the majority of your attention should indeed be on your date, you want to also treat other people well and show your date that you have excellent social skills.

Tip #3: Be Prompt and On Time

Even on the date, be prompt – but don’t be needy. Be timely when replying to messages, text messages and phone calls. Be on time to dates. If your relationship works out, you will likely spend the entire life with them. Being prompt can show the other party that you were responsible. Being on time and early will also help you feel less rushed and more prepared. Remember that things can happen – traffic, last-minute emergencies, and just generally life. Make sure to leave a few minutes early. If your date for some reason is late, don’t stress too much and understand that being late can happen. Make sure to get a mobile number so that you can get in touch with them if something comes up on the day of the date. Tip #4

Tip #2: Be clean and dress for the occasion

Nobody wants to date a bad-looking date! Make sure to stay clean, and dress for the date. Don’t wear a tux if you’re going to a basketball game, and don’t wear shorts if you’re going to a fancy restaurant. Dress appropriately for the occasion and make sure to wear something that will help you stand out to your date in a good way! 1

Tip #1:  Leave with a good final impression

When the date’s over, make sure you smile at your date and thank them for a good time. Final impressions are just as good as first impressions. Leaving a good impression with your date will likely make there be a next time.
