We continue giving a review of the most striking wonders on the underwater world. We have stored some fantastic marine places where you maybe have never been but would like to know more about them. So the next four places in our list of the most famous underwater wonders of the world belong to Palau, Lake Baikal, Great Barrier Reef and Deep-sea marine cracks of the World Ocean.palauNow it is time for 4th place in our list and it belongs to Palau. Palau is an island state located on 300 islands in the Pacific Ocean, 800 miles eastward of the Philippines. Almost all of the islands are surrounded by rings of coral reef barrier. In the coastal waters of Palau you can see 1,500 species of tropical fish and 130 species of sharks as well as wrecks of the sunken ships from the Second World War. Among the underwater wonders of Palau Jellyfish lake gets special attention. It is inhabited by millions of jellyfish of different sizes – from tiny, gelatinous creatures the size of which is like a small cherry to the giants, similar to basketball.

Lake Baikal contains more water than in all five Great Lakes of the USA combined together (Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie and Ontario). Baikal water is so clear that some stones in the lake are clearly visible on the 40-meter depth. There are 27 islands at the Lake Baikal, and on one of them is located a worshiped by the whole Asia shrine – Shaman rock on which the nature itself engraved a dragon. Baikal is inhabited by 2,600 species and varieties of plants and animals. Here you can meet Baikal seal – it is freshwater seal.

It is the largest coral reef in the world – created by coral polyps – tiny creatures the size of which is like a small pin. Among the fungi form, dendritic and lamellar corals in the water there are a lot of circling exotic fish of various colors and sizes, from the huge whale sharks weighing up to 12 tons, and ending with striped fishes, butterflies, crimson, yellow clownfish and shoals of perch-anty, similar to Christmas lanterns.

If on the land the oxygen concentration in the air is about 23%, and in the coastal waters it is up to 35%, at the bottom of the ocean cracks its concentration is no more than 2-3%. But even in such conditions, there is life here. Cracks are homes for crustaceans and shellfish of strange unusual shapes.
