In Europe, spring truly arrives with more sunshine and temperatures that warm just about everywhere: It’s the perfect time to swim in the Mediterranean Sea on the beaches of Malta, Crete or the Balearic Islands. If you’d like to beat the summer crowds to some of the most famous places along the Mediterranean, then it’s time to go to Sicily, Mallorca and the Turkish coast. For city tours, Paris is incredible at this time of the year, while Beirut gives you a chance to sunbathe and ski on the same day. Scandinavian countries are still a bit cold but the days are lengthening in a wonderful fashion that makes tours there far more agreeable.
You can still comfortably discover Asia, Nepal, Cambodia and Vietnam but most of the Asian countries are unpleasantly hot places in April. Nevertheless, the Philippines are a perfect choice as the climate there is awesome this time of the year for going from one island to another without the threat of typhoons. If you are okay with crowds it is also the perfect moment to visit the flowering cherry trees in Japan. If Australia is attractive to you then April is a nice month to discover the delights of Sydney.
As for Africa, the whole Maghreb is already hot and sunny: It’s the perfect time for scouring the souks in Marrakesh or having a tan on the beaches of Tunisia. The sun is also shining at Cap Vert and the temperatures are pleasant at 20-25°C. April is also the start of the tourist season in Namibia which is entering its dry season. Further afield, the climate is perfect for a road tour in and around the Plett – South Africa’s glamorous Plettenberg Bay.
In America, Florida, California and Louisiana are excellent destinations in April as well as Central America and the Bermudas. It’s also great time for discovering New York with all it offers after the winter cold and before the summer that can be crowded. If you’d like to stay on the beach, St. Lucia’s Caribbean waters and white sands will be great.
Keep in mind that Tunisia and Zanzibar are currently experiencing their rainy season. The same is true for South America which is experiencing a high level of humidity these days. Those tourists who need sun and beaches can start taking their chance of going to the Mediterranean coastline in the run up to summer, either European or the North African side. For tourists looking for more exotic places to visit, the Philippines or Vietnam will entice you with their harmony in season for an exotic getaway.
