Meet Willow, the cat, and her human owner, Richard! He left his corporate job to spend all his time traveling with this beloved pet. He wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!
“We are traveling and exploring together,” – Richard East says, living a van life with his most trusted friend named Willow. But their life wasn’t always like this. Richard spent 10 years working in an Australian corporate, before the cat was rescued and found her way to him.
“Adopting a cat is a lifetime responsibility and I felt it. I made it work,” Richard tells. He quit his job and sold most of his stuff. He then packed the rest and started a new life with his beloved pet in a van heading off for adventures. Richard takes photos of every moment shared with Willow.
Willow was 2 years old when she was rescued from the Tasmanian cat shelter in Hobart by Richard’s ex-girlfriend. The cat was always next to him during the toughest time of his life. As his ex-girlfriend wasn’t able to look after Willow further, he took the cat for the rest of her life.
“Willow is very loving and sweet. She is very affectionate and loves cuddles. Our bond is like any other human/cat bond but we got in a situation where we are reminded of that bond on a daily basis,” Richard says.
“Willow and me were fortunate to have made it through the past year with no more troubles than a sore paw, 3 stitches on my head and 2 flat tyres.” Everywhere Richard goes, Willow follows him.
Richard also says there are a lot of people who take their cats for road adventures. “Staying at Wunjunga for a couple of nights I was joined by Glen and Samara with their cats Kitty and Batman.”
Willow, the forest cat, has a nap resting on her very own kitty tree post.
An amazing journey and life with his best lifetime friend!
“Little black cat took a chance when she saved me. She who has made my van into a home and the whole of Australia her backyard.”
