There are thousands of waterfalls all over the world. Many are small in stature; nothing more than trickles around them.
All of us know that a waterfall is a place where water flows over a vertical drop in the course of a stream or river. Waterfalls also occur where meltwater drops over the edge of iceberg or ice shelf. But all of the waterfalls don’t look exactly like this. There are waterfalls that are so unusual to provoke disbelief and amazement of viewers. These wonders of nature are very rare and still largely unknown to most people. We are going to tell you about the most amazing waterfalls in the world.
Alamere Falls.
It’s not too often that you get to see waterfalls cascading directly down into the ocean, but the picturesque Alamere Falls in California empties right into the Pacific. Visit it and kill two birds with one stone: see wonderful waterfall and enjoy the ocean power.
Angel Falls.
This natural wonder located in Venezuela and it is the tallest waterfall in the world. Its largest plunge is over 2,600 feet and boasts a total height of 3,212 feet. Pilot Jimmy Angel is widely credited for discovering the falls in 1937, but the true discoverer was Ernesto de Santa Cruz, who found the falls in 1910. As is the norm, the falls were named after the first westerner to discover them.
Bigar Cascade Falls, Romania.
Bigar waterfall is located in Caraș-Severin county (western part of Romania)
The Bigar waterfall or as locals call it “the miracle from the Minis Canyon” and “Coronini”, it is a part of the Minis River.
Bigar waterfall is almost 8 meters tall, and covered year round with a green layer of moss. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in this country, very unique on the way the water is spread and fall, in thiny shred of water. The waterfall is exactly on 45 Paralel which is unique again.
Langfossen.
Langfoss is the fifth highest waterfall in Norway and Europe’s 16th highest, but its magnificent surroundings and accessibility have placed it on CNN’s list of the World’s 10 Most Beautiful Waterfalls. Few other falls in the world will allow you to get so close in your car as Langfoss Falls in Norway.
Kaieteur Falls.
This waterfall in Guyana is one of the rare waterfalls of the world blessed with the unusual combination of power and height. Kaieteur is an imposing aquatic wall only rivaled by India’s Jog Falls.
Havasu Canyon Falls.
Havasu Falls is known throughout the world and has appeared in numerous magazines and television shows. The vibrant blue water contrasts against the striking red rocks of the canyon walls as Havasu Falls plunges nearly 100 feet into a wide pool of blue-green waters. This, the most striking waterfall in the Grand Canyon, sports a wide sandy beach and plenty of shady cottonwood trees to relax by.
Victoria Falls.
At over twice the height of Niagra Falls and spanning a length of about 1 mile on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambie, the sheer amount of water gushing over the edge is mind blowing. In fact, on clear days you can see the spray from almost 30 miles away.
