Based on survey results, Ethnico Group has published information on how economic instability and rising inflation have affected singles’ dating experiences. 47% of respondents stated that they had put off setting up dates in the last three months in order to save money.

“Single people are rethinking their typical eating habits and patterns as they try to conserve money due to the increase in the prices of food, gas, clothing, and many other products and services.”
As a result of inflation, many couples are deciding to move in together sooner rather than later in order to save money on housing in the near term. This can occur before a couple is actually prepared to go forward in their relationship.
The following are some of the survey’s significant findings:
- No date has been set? No issues: Participants said that 52% of them were content to postpone dates to avoid incurring additional expenses for drinks, clothing, transportation, etc.
- Taking things slow: 58% of participants said they wanted to learn more about possible partners before investing money in activities and sparing no time.
- Regular budget cuts: According to the report, 67% of respondents reduced their spending by selecting less expensive date options.
- Newer couples frequently move in together to save money on housing as rent rates rise. Despite not being prepared for that move, 45% of participants acknowledged they have talked to their partners about moving in together.
“There are alternatives for singles to continue making new friends and going on enjoyable dates without being concerned about the cost. To enjoy dating and putting themselves out there has become more challenging for singles due to the increased cost of dating.” Drakovic said, Product development specialist at SerbianDating.
He offered the following suggestions for how to cut costs while still having a busy dating life:
- Simplify your night out: Choose a less expensive activity rather than paying a lot for a better reservation.
- Get inventive: Casual activities like a walk, a hike, a game night, or a bike trip are terrific ways to connect without spending a fortune.
