Princess Juliana Airport

It is one of the most favorite places for all spotters – ardent fans of airplanes with a camera ready to spot the moment of landing. The uniqueness of the airport is in its close proximity between the beginning of the runway and the sea beach, open to tourists. The shortened length of the the landing strip forces pilots to use every meter of it, as a result the landing begins literally in a couple of tens of meters above the heads of tourists resting in the beach.

Gustaf III Airport

It is located on the most beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Barthelemy. This airport presents a serious test for pilots trying to land a plane along a narrow landing line near the rocky hills. To witness the extreme conditions of the landing there are numerous warning signs that prohibit the sunbathing near the runway.

Gibraltar Airport

It is one of the few airports in the world, the runway of which is intersected by an ordinary road. Local tourists often take pictures of the plane landing, that forces temporarily to freeze one of the busiest traffic arteries of Gibraltar.

Barra Airport

The Scottish airport has no analogues throughout the globe due to its sandy airstrip. Yes, the planes break away from the ground and land on the usual shore of the bay of Tray Moore on the island of Barra. During the tidal season, the airport is closed for landings. In general, 20-seat turboprop passenger airplanes with shortened take-off and landing characteristics are used here.

Courchevel Airport

A popular French resort has its own airport, serving only small aircrafts. The reason for this is an extremely short runway length of which is 525 meters with an inclination angle of about 20%. Horror also caused by the lack of a radionavigation approach system for landing on instruments.

Lukla Airport

The extensive history of aviation accidents softly hints that the Nepalese airport in the town of Lukla is considered to be one of the most dangerous in the world. At one end, 527 meters of take-off canals are confined to a deadly precipice, and on the other, to a mountain ridge. Not every daredevil will take a risk flying here, relying on the rules of visual flights only, because there is simply no navigational equipment here. Oh, yes, the weather at an altitude of 2,800 meters is not so pleasant indeed.

Samui Airport

Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. About 20 million people visit this country annually, of which 1 million people arrive to the airport of Koh Samui. The highlight of the airport is the lack of enclosed spaces. Terminals and their surroundings look more like a resort zone, which you can not leave just stay and relax after flight.
