The South and the Southeast Asia are undoubtedly the best destinations for memorable holidays in January. India in this sense is not a surprise and not exception. You can, of course, go to Goa. But if you want something more unusual, you can visit Jaipur. From January 24 to January 28 the largest literary festival in Asia will be held. The writers from around the world will be among its participants. This year, for example, among the speakers will be the Scottish writer Alexander McCall Smith and Andre Asiman, who wrote the novel “Call me by your name”, that later was filmed as a romantic drama.

2. Philippines

The Philippines is a great alternative to India, as well as Thailand and Vietnam. In January, the Philippine Islands have traditionally good weather, so you can go there if you are missing heat and sun.

You can start your journey with the capital of the country, Manila, which is an unusual mix of Asian, Spanish and American cultures. Then you should go to the south and visit, for example, the Bikolsky region. You will find waterfalls, volcanic craters and hot springs there. The island of Panayo is no less interesting in January too.  You can attend the local festivals and carnivals here.

3. Ngapali, Myanmar

The middle of the Russian winter is the peak of the beach season in the Dominican Republic. Of course, for this reason there are a lot of tourists in January here. As a result, the prices are not the lowest at this time of the year. But if you go to relax a bit later after New Year holidays, you can save some money and enjoy the sun.

If you get tired of a purely beach holiday, go surfing, take a walk around local reserves or take a whale watching tour.

5. Costa Rica
