This village actually beats Hogwarts on the number of ghosts it is believed it houses. Officially, 12 of them are here, including the Red Lady and a robber.

The Xochimilco village belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage since 1987. Its appeal is due to the terrible secret that it hides. The floating Island is “decorated” with rotting dolls, hanging from trees, whose eyes watch soullessly at visitors. Many of them have no limbs at all.

A local legend explains the origins of such a strange decoration. Many years ago on the island, called the Puppet Island now, a young girl drowned. The security guard found the girl’s body and, as a sign of reverence, he left a doll on the tree. He continued this tradition every year, adding one more doll to the bizarre collection. When he died, all of the dolls remained here on the island.

The Royal Palace is inhabited by blue blood spirits. It is assumed that the spirits of two princes – 12-year-old Edward V and 10-year-old Richard still live here. The two boys were probably murdered by their uncle, Richard III, at the end of the XV century.

It is believed that the spirit of Anne Boleyn, who was imprisoned in the tower by her husband, has been also living here since 1536. One of the most unusual ghosts that has been seen here, was the spirit of the bear.
