A dream comes true: Australia (part 2)

Let’s go on with my Australian story. This unusual and desired for me land surprised me on every side.

8b401-clip-247kb[1]Houses in Australia are the most unique in the world I think. They are situated on boles, brick or beams. I called it chicken lug-backed houses. Height above ground level is different: 20 centimeters, a half of man height, but the most widespread is a flight of stairs level. I was sure that the main aim of such construction was snake protection. But no!  Do you have any variants? It is so simple. By such way house gets coolness. Houses make with veneer, by the way. And there are no fireplaces or heating there. But locals wear warm clothes and tell each other:

– “Ohh!It is so cold today!”.

And this is at 23 degrees Celsius!

Australian weather, specifically Sydney weather is a separate talk. Weather in Sydney is one of the main reasons for the city’s popularity on holidays. There is no ‘bad’ time to visit with mild winters, warm summers and more than 340 days of sun each year. The summer lasts from December to February and the highest temperatures are recorded at that time.

There are a lot of tourists and visitors on the beaches who enjoy the warm and sunny days. Sun, surf and fresh air on the edge of the earth  – I was happy and spellbound ! This time is perfect to bike, hike and walk around. But the north is damp and humid. The water is green and perfect for fishing here.
Winter months are June, July and August (average minimum temperatures are at their lowest). Spring and autumn are the times of the year that you can visit any part of Australia. Then its temperate weather all over the country, spring is the season of great number of stunning wildflowers – it is a thrilling landscape!

aussie-girls[1]And now a few words about Australian people.

They are unusually friendly and happy! Really! Even looking on a working car drivers I can see calm and happy faces. And how they salute each other! Their greetings are more generous and sincere even than the British are. May be it is because of population density in Australia: there are a lot of townships situate far from each other and their livers are happy to meet some new person or tourist.

australia-sydney2[1]And of course I will tell you about the kangaroo. :)

They are so cute and … fearful a little (I was afraid of big kangaroo – their height as a man almost). I saw these animals only on pictures before. And I fed them with a hand in their native continent. A kangaroo can grow to between 3 and 8 feet (1 to 3 meters) tall, and they can weigh between 40 and 200 pounds (18 to 100 kilograms), depending on the species. There are over 40 different types of Kangaroo.

The smaller ones are Wallabies and the largest is the Red Kangaroo (it stands taller than a man and can weight 85 kg’s). Male kangaroos are called bucks, boomers or jacks, and females are called does, flyers or jills. Females are flyers and a baby kangaroo is called a joey. Kangaroos can’t walk backwards, but they are good swimmers. Kangaroos usually live to around six years old in the wild.

These only a few interesting moments about a magic land – Australia.

This continent is only one where one country is situated. A single continent where there are no any predator and a single continent where the most poisonous insects and reptiles are gathered. Australia is natural miracle! Check it by yourself!
