A dream comes true: Australia – Sydney (part 1)

Since the school geography lesson I was dreaming about an amazing continent with a lot of unusual things – about Australia.

Kangaroo, koala, Great Barrier Reef, wonderful beaches… Several years I was saving up money for а desired trip. And done! A plane landed in Sydney. There is a trademark of Australia is here – famous Opera House. This great gold and cream-coloured building stands right in coast. There is one of the highest bridges in the world on the opposite side of an embankment.

I lived in Swiss Hotel in downtown, between skyscrapers.

Sydney Tours
red tour bus – Sydney Tours

Sydney is narrow, built-up, fussy and a little muddy. This city looks not very comfy for me. There are a four-store house and a highway in a metre above the roof – it’s normal for Sydney but I don’t want to live in such place.
Today Sydney is the center of a world tourism. Everywhere you look you can find a tourist… Chinese mainly. There are a lot of them there.

I was surprised with closed restaurants on Sunday except of McDonalds. Locals take care about workers by such way.

I liked a red tour bus – Sydney Tours. It run between stops with all sights. It is very convenient: you pay for a ticket and you can all day run-go-visit-look to one’s heart’s content. And heart wants more and more: view of the Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, hangout beaches, town gardens and parks…

This is a bright kaleidoscope of the capital of immigrants.

Sydney Fish Market
Sydney Fish Market – it is one more interesting place

I want to invite you to visit the Sydney Fish Market – it is one more interesting place. It is situated in Pyrmont area and works 7 days a week except Xmas. They say this fish market is one of the biggest in the southernquarter.  You can by here some ready meal and fresh seafood – to cook it here or to take it at home. Take a piece of advice: try a local ostracean without fail! You will be surprised!A seafood has a reasonable price, they are always fresh and tasty. All marine products lovers will be happy to visit this amazing place!

One of the best fish restaurant of Sydney is Mohr Fish.

It hides in a green area near the Central railway station away from main tourist paths. Simple interior but fast services and great cuisine made this restaurant popular among natives and visitors. You will offer a fish, seafood and a lot of dishes from it: fish dumplings, chips, grill, roasted quid, a lot of salads and garnishes.
I’ll tell you some more about  public catering across Australia.

There are a lot of cafés, bistros, coffee-shops, pub counters, `barbies‘ (barbecues) and fast food outlets which serve up an amazing array of food and drink. Cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Perth offer a very eclectic mix of cuisines and dining experiences to choose from, many of them very good value indeed. Food courts, bakeries, bistros and cafés are particularly recommended for budget-watchers. Alongside are a range of bars, taverns and pubs where local beer and wine rule the roost.

And now let’s go swimming.

img_6121[1]The best and the most known beach of Sydney is Bondi Beach.

This place was like a waking dream for me! It is in the top-10 of the best beaches of the world. “Bon dai” or “Boon dai” in aborigine language means “ a wave which break against the rocks”. People are bathe in the sun but not swimming mainly. Because water is cold and there are a lot of sharks and medusas here. I was afraid of sharks and only watched surfers training. We saw a crowd and a lot of youth on one place on a beach and in water. It was very interesting! It turned out that it was filming of American comedy series “Modern Family” here and it was mob scene in water.

There are lifeguards on Bondi Beach for safety of vacationers. They work all the year round. If you don’t want or afraid to swim outyou can swim in a pool right on the beach.

english-diving[1]A lot of tourists and locals prefer surfing and diving. The popular areas for surfing are Queensland, New South Wales with Noosa and beaches of the Sunshine Coast, Kirra Beach being amongst the best. 35,000 kms of fabulous coastline provides ample opportunity for diving and exploring beautiful coral reefs and the magnificent marine life these waters have to offer. From Byron Bay in New South Wales to the brilliant waters off Tasmania, Australia is a scuba diver’s delight.

Got tired with my trip story? But I have a lot interesting things to tell you more about this amazing land. OK, enough for today. Next time I will tell you about Australian weather, unusual houses, kangaroo and some other curious facts.

See you!
