Puebla Famous Attractions (Part 2)

The historic city center of Puebla is full of magnificent churches, monasteries and mansions of colonial-style facades of which are decorated with Talavera tiles, typical of this region. Puebla is also considered as the “cradle of Mexican Baroque” both in architecture and in the decorative arts, and one of the five most important colonial cities in Mexico. Also, this city is famous for its cuisine and is considered the gastronomic capital of the country. It is believed that “Mole (Mole)” – a famous Mexican spicy sauce was invented right here.3505983346_d02aa677cd_bAfrica Safaris is just 15 minutes drive from Puebla and it is a safari park where the animals don’t live in cages, and their living conditions are close to natural.

Safari Park is divided into sections: African, American, International, and another, named as “Sky Tigers”, in addition, there is childish zoo. Also there is a picnic area and a marina for boat trips on the lake Valsekiyo.

The African section of the zoo is the largest and consists of 3 parts: Botswana, Uganda and Kenya. Just at the end of the last one pier, called Mombasa is located. At the main entrance of this section stays native African man, who welcomes tourists in Swahili language, saying “Hello, white people.”

In the Africa Safaris, you can see the red panda, jaguar, anteater and other interesting animals, stroll through the tropical jungle, admire bats and visit the majestic terrarium with butterflies of 7 kinds.

SafariCarWalk along the park you can take by your own car or by bus, which departs every half hour. You can’t leave your car, just strictly follow the plan of the route, though, you can open the windows in the car (with the exception of particularly dangerous areas – where there are lions, tigers and bears).

In addition, there is the opportunity to visit a safari at night! After all, at this time of day, while some animals are sleeping, others are just beginning their night activity.

Great Pyramid of Cholula

Cholula is archeological zone area of 154 hectares, located near the same city Chochula, 10 km from Puebla.

The main local landmark is the Great Pyramid of Cholula (Gran Pirámide de Cholula), the largest pyramid in Mexico (base length is 450 m, height is 66 m). At the top of the pyramid the church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios is built.

294395The building of the Great Pyramid was held in four stages, from the 3rd century BC till the 9th century AD.

At first glance it looks like the Great Pyramid on a hill covered with grass, with a church on the top. But if you climb to the top of the pyramid, you can see the geometrical diagram of an original design, which rises from the ground in four directions.

Great Pyramid of Cholula is the biggest pyramid in the world. Much more according to the  volume (but not height) than the pyramid of Cheops in Egypt. With the foundation of 450×450 meters and a height of 66 meters its full volume estimated at 4.45 million cubic meteres. Archaeologists have restored one side of the pyramid and dug about 8 km of tunnels inside the pyramid, with opened access for visitors.
