Eixample (L’Eixample) is a new city of Barcelona, ​​which appeared in the XIX century outside the city walls. Now it covers the whole central part of Barcelona, from Plaza Catalunya, which separates it from the Gothic Quarter.

Eixample has an extremely proper and strict planning. Its streets organized in small rectangular blocks, and it is very convenient for transport, if not to take into account the traffic lights, which are located at every street corner.

The most famous street of the Eixample is the Boulevard de Gracia (Passeig de Gràcia). It is full of boutiques, expensive cafes and restaurants. Magnificent buildings of Gracia are performed according to the modern architecture and are strikingly different from the buildings of the Old Town. On this street there are famous buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi – Casa Batllo (Casa Batlló) and Casa Mila (Casa Milà). These are real masterpieces of modernism, included in UNESCO World Heritage List. Casa Batllo and Casa Mila are open for tourists.

Nou Camp is the largest football stadium in Europe with a capacity of almost 100,000 spectators. Camp Nou was built in 1957 for FC Barcelona. Every football fan knows about it.

Being in Barcelona, you shouldn’t buy a ticket for the match: the stadium is open for tourists. Entrance fee is about 17 Euros, but it’s worth it. Besides the tour of the stadium, you can go to the Museum of FC Barcelona, with your own eyes to see the greatest trophies of this club, get to know its history and celebrities.

How to get there. The nearest metro station is Camp Nou – Collblanc (branch L5).

The fact that Picasso is a famous artist, everyone knows. But not everyone knows that he has lived and worked in Barcelona. In Barcelona there is a museum, which contains many (mostly earlier) works of the Catalan master.

Picasso Museum is located in the Gothic quarter in one of the narrow streets called Moncada. The queues to the museum are always long; you can stand for a long time before you get inside.

In the museum you can see works by Pablo Picasso such as “Las Meninas”, “First Communion”, “Science and Charity”, “Dancer”, “Harlequin” and others. You can also see his child’s drawings with pencil.
